West Cliff, Whitby

Old bones point the way
And Captain Cook
Patiently bears the weight
Of another seagull on his head.
Wayfarer gaze
Steadfastly unaffected,
Withstanding the clatter
Of their careless feet
Tapping over his dreams,
He still maps out his distant seas,
Seeing sails where only birds
Are snatching at the breeze.
